MATERIALS
We only use organic cotton sourced and certified from Italy and Peru. If we use polyester, it is only for details and is 100% recycled. Read here for more details on why organic cotton is softer, more durable, and so much easier on the environment.
Firebird has direct relationships with factories and sells only direct to consumer, allowing us to make luxury children's product without a luxury price tag.

Most of children's clothing is made offshore in Asia. Even the strongest of commitments to fair labor practices are virtually impossible to control or enforce. The practice also contributes to the fashion industry's already massive carbon footprint. This is why we decided to manufacture our clothes in the US –in NYC and Los Angeles, closer to us and our customers.

Firebird was born out of a search for beautiful children's clothing that could be worn and passed on to others. The lifespan of kids clothing is even shorter than that of adult fast fashion. Most of it will end up in landfills, polluting the very world our kids will inherit from us.
THE FIREBIRD
The firebird is a mythical, magical bird populating many of the Slavic fairy tales. In folklore, this beautiful and fierce bird embodied the rewards and perils of imagination: a symbol of flight, an object of pursuit, and a vehicle of transport to a freer world. Of no specific gender, the firebird is a symbol of questing and adventure.
